README file for EDDIES cruise oc415-4 Chelsea Fluorometer Calibration --------------------------------------------------------------------- A Chelsea Fluorometer (S/N ???) was installed on the sampling sled for this cruise. For the first sampling tow the Wetlabs fluorometer from the Oceanus CTD was also put on the sampling sled for inter-calibration between the two sensors. Data from the doencast portion of the tow were used to determine the relationship between the two sensors. Figure (1) (aka Ch_W_cal.png) shows the relationship between the Chelsea (in 10^volts) and Wetlabs (in micrograms/liter) fluorometers and the resulting curve fit. The coefficients of the quadratic polynomial are: [.1273 -.3648 .3207] These polynomial coefficients were used to convert the 'flight' portion of the first sampling tow data from the Chelsea to micrograms/liter. The results are shown in Figure (2) (aka Ch_W_cmp.png), It can be seen that the Chelsea seems to be slightly higher than the Wetlabs. This difference is due to an as yet unresolved problem with the calibration process described above. C Sellers 7 Sept 05
