ELOG Configuration File Maker Help

The ELOG Configuration File Maker (ECFM) can be used to build a configuration file for use on an oceanographic scientific cruise.

Quick overview

The Cruise Info tab allows the user to enter metadata about the upcoming cruise including: Start Date, Chief Scientist, Cruise Project Name, Cruise Study Area, and Cruise Comment

The Participants tab allows the user to choose which scientists will be entering events on the upcoming cruise. To see if a participant already exists w/in R2R, choose the Add R2R Participant tab and search on name or affiliation. If the participant does not exist, they can be added with the Define New Participant tab. The new participant will be added to the R2R database at the completion of the cruise.

With the Instruments one can choose which instruments will be used on the cruise and the order of importance, and which actions will be associated with each instrument.

To add an instrument click, Add Local Instrument and choose the instrument you would like to add. If your instrument is not there choose Other and click Add. This will put you back into the specify local instruments page. Scroll down to Other and and choose EDIT. On this page edit local instrument you can change the name for the Instrument Local Name and then create Actions for the Instruments. When done click Submit.

The Up and Down button will move the participant or instrument to the start or end of the list. This allows the instrument that will be the most used to show up first when creating an event. The Edit button can be used to edit the instrument or participant information. The Remove button will remove the participant or instrument from the configuration file.
