Here are the EDWIN LINK observations of stress and heat flux.
These are Large&Pond Pascals accounting for a w/20m anemom hgt
and Beardsley's Air-Sea package W/m^2.  They are rough
estimates and they may or may not be better that those we get from the
AVN model.  Several shipboard variables went into the heat flux (airt,sst,
humidity,SW radiation, wind, barap) but we do not know how accurate
any of these records are or whether they have ever been
