R/V Oceanus, Voyage #437, Leg II (OC437_II) 9 May 2007 – 25 May 2007 La Spezia, Italy – Pozzallo, Italy The main scientific research objective is to develop observational/ modeling strategies for identifying, characterizing and reducing seabed clutter, and the vetting of those strategies. This four-year effort seeks to provide a characterization of clutter that substantially improves the understanding of its mechanisms and its spatiotemporal properties at mid-frequencies. The planned activities include towed array surveys and CTD casts. The operations area will be the Malta Plateau around the location of 36.4N, 14.7E.
