Current hydrgraphic and weather conditions at Palmer Station
As part of our initial engineering survey and site analysis n May 2005,
we installed a thermosalinograph and fluorometer in the Palmer Station
aquarium. The goal of
having this equipment at Palmer is not only to acquire the seawater
temperature,
salinity and fluorescence data over a long period of time, but to gain
experience working with the IT infrastructure at Palmer in preparation
for our
more rigorous use of it when the PRIMO observatory equipment is
installed in
May of 2006. In addition, the webcam
will allow observations of icebergs in the vicinity of one of the
possible
sites for the PRIMO profiler.
