User Access and Mission Control

Access to PRIMO will be possible on 3 levels:

Level I access by the world allows the web server at Palmer Station to be mirrored through the continuous satellite link to a server in Woods Hole and Mississippi, providing world wide access to selected processed data and images from the web cameras and VPR acquired by PRIMO. Data and images may be viewed, but no control of PRIMO is possible at Level I.

Level II access allows control of the winch and webcams on PRIMO by designated users either at Palmer Station or through the internet with appropriate password protection.  Control is in the form of Mission files that describe in a high level language what sampling protocol the user would like PRIMO to execute.

Level III access allows a user to enter through a VPN gateway and telnet into any one of the IP addresses of the RS232 servers, the PC104 controller, or the camera servers on PRIMO. Clearly, Level III access would be possible for only a few people either stationed at Palmer or on the mainland.
